Mining Industry Experience

Over 35 years of experience in the planning and operations management of open pit mines with experience in several mineral commodities including coal, diamonds, nickel, mineral sands, copper, gold and iron ore.

Management experience covers both owner-mining and contract mining sites and work as the mining contractor’s site manager for large-scale mining contracts.

Conducted several feasibility studies and strategic planning exercises including the mine planning and the preparation of financial models for the assessment of project economics.  Worked as Project Director for a proposed mine and infrastructure development.

Project work includes due diligence studies for M&A, benchmarking of operations, project improvements studies and the implementation and auditing of quality control systems.

Highly experienced in risk management and development of mitigation strategies.

Consulting work covers the formulation, tender & negotiation of mining contracts, mining fleet selection and costing for feasibility studies, strategic planning for transport infrastructure, technical and operations reviews, management system reviews and project management for expansion studies and mining project implementation.
